| 2007 Chardonnay |
|
The first 22 acres of our Southwind Estate vineyard in the Walla Walla Valley were planted in the summer of 2008. As we wait for those young vineyard blocks to produce fruit, we source grapes from select vineyards in the Walla Walla Valley and Columbia Valley AVAs. Winemaker Virginie Bourgue works closely with each grape grower and our selected blocks from their vineyards to assure top quality fruit for Cadaretta. Our 2007 Chardonnay comes from a single distinctive vineyard outside Alderdale in the Horse Heaven Hills AVA. The Champoux Vineyard was planted in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Paul Champoux began managing the vineyard in 1989 and has consistently worked to improve quality in his 170 acre site, by using innovative canopy management techniques and by paying attention to soil fertility. The vineyard is made up of 84 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon, 16 acres of Chardonnay, 13 acres of Lemberger, 30 acres of Riesling, 7 acres of Muscat, 8 acres of Cabernet Franc, 2 acres of Syrah, and 10 acres of Merlot.
