2009 Cadaretta Windthrow
Cadaretta Windthrow is our showcase for red Rhone varietals: Syrah, Mourvedre and Grenache. The final blend is 65% Syrah, 23% Mourvedre and 12% Grenache. The finished wine initially shows effusive fruit, giving way to savory and peppery undertones.

Our limited production Cadaretta wines are named with timber industry terms. These names were selected as a salute to the heritage of the Anderson & Middleton families, who have been in Washington since 1898. Just as our winery is named for the lumber schooner Cadaretta, Windthrow is named for the forestry term that refers to trees uprooted or broken by wind.
2008 Windthrow
It’s an exciting time in Washington State: grape growers are branching out and experimenting with lesser-known grape varieties from more obscure origins. For the first time, grapes like Grenache, Mourvedre, Counoise, and Syrah are available from vineyard sites that are over ten years old and fully mature. The four grape varieties in Windthrow come from five different vineyards in three Washington State AVA’s.
