Kendall Mix, Cadaretta Winemaker
Kendall Mix was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta. Just as he was completing his B.Sc. in Microbiology at the University of Alberta, he decided to pursue a winemaking career, and moved to California to study viticulture and enology at the University of California, Davis.
While at Davis, Kendall Mix interned at Robert Mondavi Winery and worked in the lab and cellar at R.H.Phillips Winery.
In 1993 Kendall headed north to Washington State and Chateau Ste.Michelle, working 10 vintages on the red winemaking team at Chateau Ste.Michelle's Canoe Ridge Estate. He then joined Chalone Wine Group's Canoe Ridge Vineyard as head winemaker for two vintages (2003 and 2004).
Corliss Estates (with the additional Washington Vintners brands Tranche Cellars and RMV Cellars) lured Kendall Mix to become its winemaker in 2004. He was the winemaker for the Corliss family of wines until 2010.
From 2010 until he joined Cadaretta in the summer of 2014, Kendall was winemaker, then director of winemaking, for Goose Ridge Estate Winery.
Kendall and his wife, Debbie, have three children, and, in what spare time they have, can often be found enjoying their kids’ hockey and lacrosse games.
